Laboratory analyses of CBD oils.

Why customers should only buy tested CBD oils and products

Introduction

The popularity of CBD products has increased significantly in recent years. Many people use CBD oils for their potential health benefits. However, as demand has increased, so has the number of suppliers, and not all of them offer high-quality products. This is where the analyses of certified laboratories come into play, which play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of CBD products.

The importance of laboratory analyses

Laboratory analysis is essential to ensure that CBD products match the advertised ingredients and are free of contaminants. Certified laboratories conduct extensive testing to verify the exact concentration of cannabinoids, the purity of the product, and the presence of contaminants such as pesticides, heavy metals, and solvent residues.

Ensuring the stated CBD concentrations

A primary reason for lab analysis is to confirm claimed CBD concentrations. Customers should receive what they buy and the potency of the product should be what they expect. Without these analyses, actual CBD amounts could vary greatly from what is stated on the label, which could affect the desired effects.

The discrepancy between advertised and actual CBD levels has been little studied. To fill this knowledge gap, researchers have measured and compared CBD levels in aqueous tinctures, oils and e-liquids.

Study methods and results

For the study in the UK, the scientists purchased 13 aqueous tinctures, 29 oils, and 10 e-liquids. They used advanced analytical methods to determine the CBD content in these products.

In most cases, the measured CBD levels deviated significantly from the stated values and were often significantly lower. The deviations varied depending on the product type:

- Oils had the smallest deviations, followed by e-liquids, aqueous tinctures.

- The deviations were nevertheless significant: for oils the relative deviation was -19.0 ± 14.5%.

- Only 5 out of 63 products had CBD levels within 10% of the advertised values.

Checking for contamination

Certified labs also test CBD products for potential contaminants. This is especially important because hemp, the plant from which CBD is derived, can absorb contaminants from the soil. Without thorough testing, these contaminants could make their way into the final product.

Safety and health

The most important reason why customers should only buy CBD oils with certificates of analysis is safety. Without analysis, products could contain contaminants. Tested products offer the assurance that they are safe to consume through transparency throughout the manufacturing process.

Consistency and effectiveness

Products tested by certified independent labs ensure consistency in quality and potency. Customers can be confident they will receive the same dosage and effects every time. This is especially important for those who take CBD regularly for health reasons.

Trust and transparency

Purchasing products with certificates of analysis promotes trust and transparency between manufacturers, retailers and customers. Reputable manufacturers have their products tested voluntarily and make the results available to consumers. This shows their commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

Conclusion

Laboratory analysis from certified, independent laboratories is essential to ensure the quality, safety and effectiveness of CBD products. Customers should only purchase CBD oils and products that have been tested and come with certificates of analysis. This not only ensures consumer safety, but also the consistency and transparency necessary to build a trusting relationship between manufacturers and customers. Invest in your health and choose tested CBD products.
