What is hemp tea?

Cannabis (CBD) tea is very popular because, firstly, you can really relax with a cup of tea and, secondly, CBD generally contributes to your general well-being.

Tea is a natural product that has been known and tested for centuries.

Many CBD users therefore also have hemp leaf or flower tea at home to help them relax in the evening, switch off from everyday life and sleep better. Or just to relax and unwind.

But there is more to it.

Cannabidiol - CBD - promotes mental calmness, activates cell protection and has a balancing and harmonizing effect. Restlessness and stress are reduced and give way to inner balance.

Hemp tea, hemp leaf tea or hemp flower tea?

Hemp tea or hemp leaf tea is made from the leaves of European industrial hemp.

It is rich in natural cannabidiol , which has many positive effects on the human body. Unlike THC, it has no psychoactive effect. There are also many other valuable secondary plant substances, terpenes and essential oils in the teapot.

It is also sometimes made from leaves and CBD flowers, as the stronger variant.

Other ingredients

CBG (cannabigerol) is, so to speak, the mother cell of the hemp plant, since CBG is produced in the young plants.

CBDA - precursor to CBD

Other natural secondary plant substances from hemp and valuableterpenes (essential components) complement the content.

The cannabinoids CBD and THC are not water-soluble. This is why hemp tea brewed in hot water contains neither CBD nor THC.

The situation is different with the acidic precursor of CBD, cannabidiolic acid (CBDa).

CBDA is the main ingredient in high-quality hemp teas . Cannabidiolic acid is the main cannabinoid in fresh hemp. When the tea is poured over boiling water, CBDA is found as the main substance in the tea after 10 to 15 minutes of brewing.

Does CBD flower tea make you “high”?

No.

Hemp varieties approved by the EU that can be grown by farmers contain only trace amounts of THC (< less than 0.2 percent). With these values, these tea products are legally available in Austria.

Is hemp tea legal?

The answer is yes.

When buying hemp tea, pay close attention to the stated THC content.

This is also regulated by law. In EU industrial hemp, which is bred according to strict legal guidelines, the THC content has been greatly reduced, while the CBD and CBDA content has been increased.

The proportion of THC in hemp tea should in any case not be higher than 0.2% (Germany) and 0.3% (Austria).

What can CBD tea do?

Scientists have discovered that cannabidiol can be helpful against many ailments:

Soothes stomach and relieves nausea

Drinking warm CBD tea not only leads to a pleasant feeling in the stomach and intestinal tract due to the warmth, but can also alleviate other digestive disorders. It should only be warm, but no longer hot.

Block certain transmissions to pain receptors

Interesting in this regard are the user reports from a survey conducted by the Arthritis Foundation

To improve the CBD effect, manufacturers recommend consuming the hemp tea on an empty stomach.

Hemp tea is relaxing - relieves nervousness, anxiety and stress

There are also studies on this.

Sleep-promoting

The CBDA content in the tea helps the body relax better, the mind calm down, thoughts stop circling and you can fall asleep more easily.

When buying hemp tea, you should pay particular attention to the quality marks:

Origin

The origin does not refer to the tea itself, but to the industrial hemp from which the tea was made. Industrial hemp is grown in many countries, but not every country has the same laws regarding the purity of the plant.

Not every country controls the cultivation of industrial hemp as strictly as Austria and Germany. So pay attention to the relevant country labels when purchasing products.

It is also important to ensure that the tea is of the best organic quality

and free from additives such as:

  • Colourings and preservatives

  • Lactose, fructose, gluten and sweeteners

  • Genetic engineering is

  • and is vegan.

UNSER KRAUT tea is made only from Cannabis Sativa plants (hemp herb) that come from organic cultivation in Austria and the EU and have an organic certificate and are below the permitted THC content.

The hemp for the tea is hand-picked and hand-packed. This means that the proportion of aromatic substances is significantly higher than with other harvesting methods. The aroma, taste, as well as the valuable terpenes, flavonoids and antioxidants are fully preserved thanks to this process.

How much does CBD tea cost

Compared to conventional teas, CBD tea is more expensive to produce than regular teas.

Of course, these prices cannot be avoided due to the prices of industrial hemp, but the positive effects of CBD tea are significantly higher than those of conventional teas.

Does CBD tea have side effects?

The following side effects can sometimes occur when taking CBD:

Dry feeling in the mouth

Low blood pressure

Dizziness

sleepiness

No or little appetite

Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not drink CBD tea, as there are not enough studies to rule out side effects for pregnant or breastfeeding mothers. The same applies to children.

preparation

for 1 large cup of tea (approx. 200 ml):

approx. 1/2 teaspoon leaves

If you let hemp tea brew for a short time (about 5 minutes), it develops an invigorating and activating effect.

The following points should be considered in order to optimally benefit from the therapeutic aspects of hemp tea:

The ingredients are poorly soluble in water. A study looked at medicinal hemp tea and the active ingredient content of the drink:

1.To achieve the best possible concentration of active ingredients for specific problems, simmer the tea for about 15 minutes.

2. Since the active ingredients are fat-soluble, you can boil the tea in milk or plant-based milk, or at least add a little of it.

3. The active ingredient content decreases considerably over time. Therefore, it is ideal to always prepare the tea fresh and not store it for too long.

4. Find out how your body reacts to the right dose. Start with about half a teaspoon for half a liter of tea. Observe the effect of the hemp tea before increasing the dose.

Interactions

As with all herbal ingredients, interactions and side effects with other medications must be taken into account when taking CBD tea. It is advisable to discuss these with your doctor.
