CBD and Hemp - FAQs & Answers
CBD (cannabidiol) is more well-known today than ever before. However, many people have common questions about CBD and hemp, which we would like to answer briefly and clearly here.
CBD is a cannabinoid, a component of the hemp plant. It works via the body's endocannabinoid system. Unlike non-legalized THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), it has no psychoactive effect.
How does CBD work?
CBD influences the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS), a complex network of cell signals in the human body.
So-called cannabinoid receptors in our central nervous system, the peripheral nervous system and the immune cells.
The endocannabinoids bind to them and transmit corresponding signals.
The cells then respond to these signals by reacting to the information transmitted.
Our body’s own ECS regulates many vital body functions through this process.
However, when, due to various circumstances, our endocannabinoid levels are too low, our ECS unfortunately has problems communicating internally and maintaining and regulating the balance between the various systems in the body.
CBD can help increase cannabinoid levels in the body.
How do CBD oils differ from hemp seed oils?
Hemp oil is a high-quality food oil made from hemp seeds without CBD as an active ingredient. In addition to proteins and numerous omega-3 fatty acids, hemp oil also contains many vitamins and trace elements. It can be used in the kitchen like any other common oil (e.g. olive oil). Just don't heat it up too much.
CBD oil, however, is extracted from the plant and the flowers and is used for a variety of therapies and complaints. In addition to cannabidiol, the hemp plant also contains many other active ingredients, such as phytocannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids. source

CBD is usually dissolved in organic hemp seed oil.
Where does the CBD oil come from?
The cannabis plant has been thousands of years The best known applications are those in China around 4500 years ago, in which hemp preparations were used. Since then, hemp has repeatedly come into focus in certain cultures, in most countries, only to be deported into illegality in the USA at the instigation of the emerging pharmaceutical industry because a simple plant with these active ingredients could not be patented.

In principle, the percentage is not necessarily decisive, since weaker preparations can be compensated by using more drops.
What is the best way to take CBD oils?
There are many questions about how to take CBD oil correctly. What is right? When should you take it? How much? This can quickly overwhelm newbies.
Sublingual administration - dripping under the tongue with a pipette - is the most effective.
The active ingredients therefore enter the bloodstream quickly and the effect can therefore occur early.
You can also consume CBD oil in a liquid such as tea, juice, water, etc. However, it should be noted that it is not absorbed through the oral mucosa as it is when taken sublingually, but rather through the digestive tract. However, it takes longer for the effect to take hold and the bioavailability is lower. The organism can therefore absorb and use less of the CBD oil taken effectively.
For optimal effect when taken sublingually, the CBD oil should be swallowed after 30 to 60 seconds. This allows the remaining cannabidiol that has not yet been absorbed by the oral mucosa to reach the digestive tract and can be absorbed by the body there.
When should I take the CBD oil?
You can spread the dose throughout the day to experience a continuous effect, for example if you are using CBD for pain relief. Alternatively, you can take the dose in the evening if you are using it to improve relaxation and sleep.
CBD oil before or after meals?
There are different opinions as to whether CBD is best taken after eating or on an empty stomach.
A study from 2019 (1) showed that taking it after a fatty meal can have a higher bioavailability. Here, 8 people were given CBD over a certain period of time, divided into 2 groups.
Both received the CBD dose in the morning. One group took the CBD with a fatty breakfast (840‐860 calories), the other group did not eat breakfast at all. After 2 weeks, the groups were switched. A continuous evaluation of the absorption rate showed that the CBD had a 4x higher bioavailability in group 1 (with breakfast).
On the other hand, relevant literature recommends taking CBD at least half an hour before a meal in order to achieve a faster onset of action and a stronger effect. (2)
The best way is to try it out for yourself and find out.
When does an effect occur?
The first step in taking CBD is to increase the cannabinoid level in the body's endocannabinoid system. Therefore, according to the experience of experts, long-term use is recommended, whereby the effect can be established after about a week or later for some people. Regularity is important.
How to dose?
Many users worldwide report good experiences with just a few drops. Start with about 3 drops a day and increase gradually over the course of a few days. As with many things, the rule here is: more is not better than more, but the right thing and that regularly!
The FSA recommends a maximum total daily dose of 70mg CBD.
What applies to the dosage also applies to the experience. Every person is different and every organism is individual and will react differently to CBD.
You should first bring your endocannabinoid levels back to normal using a CBD treatment. Once this is achieved, the body's self-healing powers are activated.
Does CBD oil have side effects?
In principle, CBD preparations are free of side effects. Extreme overdoses can cause symptoms such as diarrhea or nausea. Long-term effects cannot occur; if such side effects occur, the dose simply needs to be reduced.
Do I need a prescription for CBD?
No prescription is required for CBD products; they are freely available.
What is the aroma of CBD oil?
CBD oil usually has the same color as hemp oil, from brownish to golden brown. The color is a crucial indicator of the quality of the oil, assuming that it is based on hemp oil. The taste is a bit bitter, some users describe it as grass-like. The quality of the oil again makes a big difference here.

What should you consider when buying?
To be legal in Germany, the product must contain less than 0.2% THC. You should also find out about the bioavailability, as this indicates how much of the cannabidiol ultimately works in the body. A quality full-spectrum oil is preferable. Never buy a CBD oil without precise information about its contents, such as CBD and THC content, as well as the corresponding analysis certificate from an independent laboratory. This is a given in reputable shops and with high-quality CBD oils.
How do you store CBD oil properly?
CBD oils should be stored in a cool, dry place in the dark. If you do this, they will usually last for several years if unopened. If they are already opened, always store them upright.
What forms does CBD come in?
CBD is also available in the form of food, CBD fruit gums, drinks, lotions, creams and capsules, etc. Food is recommended for long-term use, although you should find out about bioavailability. Capsules or fruit gums are practical for on the go and are also flavor-neutral. These, also known as edibles, can be dosed precisely. It should be noted here that these are not normal sweets that you just consume without limits; instead, you should pay attention to the daily dose.
Lotions, creams, shampoos and tooth gels are perfect as natural skin and body care for problems such as irritation, acne, neurodermatitis, damaged scalp, sensitive gums and the like. There are also special muscle, joint and vein gels with CBD. Here, CBD strengthens the natural ingredients. It is therefore important to pay attention to the CBD content of the product. Often, there is full-bodied advertising, but the product only contains a hint of CBD.
Why do CBD oils cost relatively much?
The extraction process and the cultivation of high-quality hemp are very complex, especially since varieties with a lot of CBD are produced and the yield is accordingly low. The production of CBD oil, from the organic cultivation of the hemp to the CO2 extraction of a high-quality full-spectrum oil, is manual work, time-consuming and expensive, so a high-quality end product cannot be cheap.
