 Indian frankincense (Boswellia serrata) has been used for medicinal purposes in India for over 5000 years and in Europe since ancient times. The power of the balsam tree plant is used successfully in Indian Ayurvedic medicine, for example.

 A frankincense tree of up to 6 meters in height can produce 3 to 7 kilograms of resin per year and, if treated carefully, can be harvested over centuries. Smoking rituals using the precious tree resin are also very popular.
